The Smok Stick Prince Baby has been discontinued, but if you're looking for an all-in-one sub-ohm starter kit in a stick form factor, consider the superb Aspire Tigon Kit!
Well, good morning, class! I should have known that with something this exciting, you'd all be here bright and early. Grab your coffees and your energy drinks, and let's get into the latest exciting offering from our friends at Smok: the Smok Stick Prince Baby!
You all remember the Smok Stick V8: this thing was basically a TFV8 Big Baby Beast on the end of an unregulated battery. Super-simple, one-button vaping, but with the steam engine of a Big Baby Beast on tap, and easy access to the huge library of V8 Baby coils.
Well, Smok has basically done the same thing again, but with their new TFV12 Prince Baby on an unregulated one-button battery. Whoa, whoa! Settle down, please! Yes, that also means you, in the back. I know this is a big deal: the simplicity and ease of a starter kit, but with TFV12 Prince Baby power. And that's just the start, so let's tear into this thing and see what's what.
Go ahead and pop and box, and check out this glory. First, take a look at this battery: color-matched to the tank, this 2000 mAh unregulated unit is a single-button stainless steel powerhouse. It's got a 510 connection on top, of course, and a micro-USB charging port with passthrough - meaning you can vape while it's charging. We'll talk more about what it's like to use later on, but for the moment...just look at this thing! Nice finish on these. If you're one of the lucky ones with the rainbow model, we'll give you a second to gather your thoughts.
So let's talk tank: the TFV12 Prince Baby is an absolute monster of a tank, and uses a very familiar set of coils. That's right, you don't have to switch to yet another coil ecosystem, because this Baby uses the same great Smok TF V8 Baby vape coils from the Baby Beast and Big Baby Beast. Moreover, it's got 4.5 ml Baby Prince bubble glass on it, if you were smart enough to buy from Mister-E-Liquid, and a massive resin drip tip they call the "cobra" because the hex design looks a little like scales, and, you know, it's Smok and everything they do gets a cool name. It's got a latching top-fill cap, nice new knurling for a good grip, and massive dual adjustable airflow because OMG look at a calendar, it's not 2014.
Installed in the Prince Baby when you get it is the awesome new crown jewel of the V8 Baby coil world: the V8 Baby Mesh coil. This game-changing vape coil features so much more surface area than any regular coil, meaning more even heating of the vape juice, and much better vapor production. This is as good as coils get, right now, and it makes you wonder what Smok's going to do next. This kit also comes with the awesome V8 Baby-M2 coil, the same special 0.25-ohm coil that came with the V8 Stick, which works great on these unregulated devices.
Also in the box is a micro-USB cable, a manual I really think you should read but that I bet you won't, an authenticity card, and a baggie of extra o-rings for when you inevitably lose or tear one, which has saved all of us at one time or another. But I can tell from the frantic looks that no one cares about manuals and spare parts: you wanna vape on this thing, and I'm right there with you.
First, prep: get this battery charged up, by plugging the micro-USB cable into a power source. Smok's not specific as to the amps this battery will safely input, so we recommend you stick with a 1 amp source at most. When you plug it in, you'll note a small red LED next to the charge port will turn on. Once you're full-up, that light will turn off. Just click the fire button five times to turn it on, and you're ready to vape!
Prepping the tank is basically the same as prepping any tank these days: flip it upside-down, unscrew the base, and get access to the coil. Whichever coil you've chosen, the method's the same: start putting e-liquid down the top of each coil hole, a few drops at a time, saturating that wick. Don't pour it in there, or it's going to pour out the bottom! Patience. Once you see the liquid is saturated to the holes on the sides, you know you're at least halfway there. I like to get several more drops in each hole after that, then reassemble the tank, push the button to release the top-fill, and add liquid almost all the way to the top. Then wait a minute or two while the liquid completely osmotes through that cotton. Mmm, tasty osmosis.
Now, it's important to note some things about what an "unregulated" battery is. This isn't a mechanical mod, despite its simplicity: a mech mod has absolutely no protections built in, and is basically just a circuit and a switch to push voltage at your atomizer. An unregulated mod like the Smok Stick Prince Baby actually has protection built in - low resistance, short circuit, low voltage, etc - but it's still direct voltage, meaning it's going to put out whatever voltage the battery puts out.
If you remember all the way back in VU201 Intro to Variable Wattage, regulated mods will keep that output voltage level until the battery runs down below the minimum, but unregulated mods will just taper off while you vape. It's not a big taper - the battery runs 4.2 volts at maximum, and will stop output at 3.4 volts - but you'll notice throughout the day that the hits aren't as hard.
With the convenience of micro-USB charging, you can just plug the thing into your phone charger, USB power pack, car charger, computer, whatever, and top it off whenever you want, but if you do let it hit 3.4 volts, no worries: with passthrough, you can vape while it's charging! Note that LED light on the fire button will blink more and more the lower the voltage gets: when it's blinking 15 times, it's gonna run out any minute, and also you're probably pretty bored by watching it blink, so just top it off whenever.
Okay, so let's hit this. Those of you rocking the default mesh coil are enjoying the best-in-class flavor and vapor output, though y'all with the V8 Baby-M2 coils aren't crying, either, I note.
So what do you think? Well, what's not to like, right? This Smok Stick Prince Baby kit has all the ease and simplicity of your most basic starter kit, but then is topped with a cloud chimney like the TFV12 Prince Baby. To top it off, it looks great, it's mad compact, the price is right, and oh yeah it comes with the best coil in the vape world, the new V8 Baby Mesh. Whether you're so basic you don't know Ohm from Watt (they both have Laws named after them; we get the confusion), or so boss you wind RDA coils in your sleep (which you probably should stop doing because it's weird and everyone's talking about you), this is the kit for you!
Now, go forth and vape something of yourselves. (See what I did there?) If you've got any questions about this amazing kit, or, you know, pretty much anything vaping-related, I am wildly available to assist you, either by phone at 855-647-8373, by email at CustomerService@Mister-E-Liquid.com, or via live chat on any page of Mister-E-Liquid.com.
