Vaporesso is dedicated to putting a perfect mod at every point of the product spectrum. The slot we're looking at today is the "box mod with built-in battery" segment. Now, a lot of companies just kinda shoehorn whatever mod they can into each of these points, but Vaporesso - particularly in the last couple of years - has really kicked their game up a notch, not just releasing a "me-too" mod with last year's chipset and some tiny battery. No, they've taken it all the way, bringing their A-game to what might just be the perfect box mod this year.
Look at that smooth gradient! Well, except for the black.
When you think about it, this isn't last year's mod in this year's clothing, it's their flagship mod with some of the more expensive (and maybe unnecessary) chunks removed. Specifically, instead of taking two 18650s (which ideally also means you want a separate battery charger, and probably a spare pair of 18650s...), the GEN Nano has its own built-in battery, with 2000 mAh of capacity, for all-day vaping without needing to invest in a whole battery ecosystem. Plus, with 2-amp quick charging, you can refill it in no time!
The advantage, then, to being a detuned flagship is that the Vaporesso GEN Nano box mod has all the same high-end features found on the GEN S, courtesy of the Axon chip. It brings a ton of modes to the party, but if you don't have a Doctorate in Mod Design, don't worry: several of the modes are completely automatic! For example, the Pulse mode is like your standard wattage mode, but the GEN Nano mod will automatically detect the resistance of the coil, and instead of just pushing your chosen wattage to it and then slowly declining, the Pulse mode will automatically refire your coil five times per second, keeping that wattage high during your entire draw.
Likewise, Eco mode will automatically do its best to preserve your battery, and will even suggest switching to Eco at 40% battery life. Best of all, its fully-automatic temperature control, which can sense what type of wire you're using and automatically set itself up for that wire type. You just choose a temp and go!
But it's not all set-and-forget, oh, no: the Axon chip in the Vaporesso GEN Nano box mod also allows a level of manual control seldom seen on any box mod: your old-school variable wattage, sure, but also manual variable temperature with manual temperature curves of resistance, plus variable voltage mode and a custom wattage curve mode! All the manual-only stuff is still there when you need it, but Vaporesso's GEN Nano mod makes it so you don't have to use it if you don't want to.
It'll take basically any size tank, but I recommend 24 mm.
Fit and finish
What else does the Gen Nano bring? Well, that famous Vaporesso quality. It's not all electronics, right? The thing has to sit in your hand, and OMG does this thing sit nicely in the hand. It's got this checkered and rubberized coating that's not only way more durable than paint, but more grippy - harder to drop! - without being difficult to get out of your pocket. And everything just works: the 510 connection is solid, and the buttons have a long-lasting tactile feel.
Look, not all of us need 200 watts, and not all of us want a pile of batteries we've got to care for. The convenience of a built-in battery can't be overstated, and I don't know about you, but I'm not hitting 200 watts all day into my 0.2 ohm GTX mesh coils! 80 watts is more than enough power, and with the genius-level brains inside the mod, and this incredible surface finish and build quality, the Vaporesso GEN Nano is the box mod to pick!
